I believe the above represents most of the ministries and volunteers in our congregations.
This is the ONLY statewide Ohio Church of God event that is designed to connect all of our churches and their leaders together under one roof.
Because of the generous support of our local churches, this event cost only $20 per person. (For a limited time, you can register for only $15 per person through Monday, February 18, 2019.)
In addition to the above, this year we will offer our attendees the opportunity to walk through “Resource Alley”. Resource Alley is available as you enter the lobby of the Meadow Park. Vendors from around the state and several national organizations will be present to share resources with you designed to help you do ministry better!
Demetrius and the Start Fresh Empowerment Team
Rev. Liisa Erskine, Worship Leader | Dr. Esther Cottrell, State Pastor | Arnetta Bailey, Panel Speaker
The Church of God (Anderson) has long embraced the value, gifting and wisdom of continuing the biblical model of having women in ministry. Start Fresh this year has dedicated its first two hours of this embrace by inviting three gifted women to lead the attendees in worship, preached word and panel discussions.
Rev. Liisa Erskine – On staff at Eaton Church of God; will lead this year’s empowerment conference as worship leader for Start Fresh. Liisa will also participate in the panel discussion, Mentoring Women of Ministry.
Dr. Esther Cottrell – State Pastor and Director of Ohio Ministries; will serve as our keynote speaker and one of the panelist for Partners of Women In Ministry.
Dr. Arnetta Bailey – Director of Christian Women Connection; will speak on behalf of Qara and lead off the panel discussion of Women In Ministry.
These three women, empowered by the Holy Spirit to serve both local and national ministry, represents another reason to be at this year’s Start Fresh Empowerment Conference.

Calling ALL Senior Adults
This year’s Start Fresh Empowerment Conference, Senior Adult Track will feature, Joel Wrobbel from the Ohio Living Speaker’s Bureau.
Joel has a passion for senior adults and the challenges they face as they transition from one age to the other.
Joel will be speaking on two topics:
- Downsizing and Coping with Transitions in Life
- Living well through all the stages in life to include his “Walking Through the Fire” series.
In 2012, he was awarded the “Leading Age Public Trust Award” (see video) for his work with the senior adult community. In 2016 he was awarded The Charles B. Jenkins Legacy Award which recognizes the exemplary and dedicated service of those advocating for and serving seniors in central Ohio.
Joel is often heard on the radio speaking on senior adult issues.
We encourage you to bring your seniors to hear this amazing servant and advocate for all of our adult seniors!
Leading from the second chair
Most of the decisions made in organizations, including churches, are made by ministry team members who often don’t understand the influence of their decisions. LEADING FROM THE SECOND CHAIR will raise awareness of the need for strong leaders in secondary positions. It will describe the value they can bring to their organization and to primary leaders when they are serving at their full potential. It will reshape the way the leader views their role, with an emphasis on their own responsibility as leaders.

Children of Prisoners
Although many congregations may have a prison ministry, few have a ministry that focuses on helping Children of Prisoners. Pastor, Author and Rehabilitated Criminal, Paul McCulley provides ways of helping minister to the family of prisoners.
Pastor McCulley, book “Sinner Man” and his Clergy Community Assistance Network’s, “Starting Point” for Prisoners, has received many awards and citations from both public and religious leaders such as Governor Mike Dewine and U.S. Senator Rob Portman.
Pastor McCulley is the winner of the Kentucky Press Association Award.
If you have children in your congregation who represent children of prisoners, you will not want to miss this exciting opportunity to hear his passion and solutions to this ignored problem in our churches and community.
