New Options for the Spring Refresher
March 14, 2013 10am - 4 pm
Meadow Park Church of God, Columbus, OH
The Spring Refresher is your opportunity to join Church of God pastors from around the state for development, renewal, and fellowship. This year, Ohio Ministries is excited to offer two challenging and timely sessions for pastors and key lay leadership.
Doug Pollock, author of Irresistable Evangelism and God Space will address "Training Your Congregation to Have Spiritual Conversations." Doug is committed to guiding God's people into outward focused living. He is an author, a speaker, a chaplain in the YMCA, and a reflective practitioner whose focus is to help Christ followers worldwide increase the quality and the quantity of their spiritual conversations in practical, doable, and authentic ways. His goal is to help believers "share God's never-changing message with an ever-changing world." Pastors and lay leadership alike can learn how to help your congregation become adept in relational evangelism.
Kirk Bookout, Donor and Church Relations Advisor for Church of God Ministries, will be leading the second option for participants and will address "12 Habits of Financially Healthy Congregations." Kirk will share insights and strategies for developing a culture of stewardship within the local church. This would be an ideal session for lay persons who serve on finance and stewardship committees, as well as pastors. For a quick inside view of this workshop, click here.
Chris Cottrell, leader of the State Reconciliation Team, will be leading a roundtable discussion based on the book, Crucial Conversations: Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High. This is a training session for those persons interested in being on the Reconciliation Team.
Advance registration is highly encouraged! Pastors are encouraged to invite lay leadership to take part in these conversations. Advance registration is $35 for the first registrant, and $15 for each additional registrant. Registration after March 8th is $45 for the first registrant, and $20 for each additional registrant. February 20 - March 31, 2013
Focus 40, 2013 takes place February 20–March 31, 2013. The 2013 prayer and fasting focus will observe the theme: “Extreme Love”based on the Great Commandment of Jesus. The Apostle Paul expressed it this way, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding” (Ephesians 1:7-8, NIV).
When Jesus was asked what was the greatest commandment in all of the law he replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:36-40 NIV).
Church of God Ministries has produced a wide range of resources available to you and your church to help you observe these 40 days of prayer and fasting, leading up to Easter 2013. Together we anticipate experiencing God’s “Extreme Love.”
Resources and promotional material will be available in both English and Spanish on this website. Begin planning now to help your congregation experience the “Extreme Love” of our God this Easter season.
