As I look back over the last 10 years I can’t help but think about the wonderful times that I have spent at the Ox roast at Camp Marengo. The Ox Roast has been without a doubt an event that has helped to shape my spiritual life in a very special way.
There is something about a group of men gathering together with the common goal of worshiping and giving glory to God that changes your whole perspective. The Ox Roast has helped me learn spiritual leadership in my home and helped me grow in Christ. I have been able to see that I am not the only one who sometimes struggles with this responsibility. Also, the worship time and speakers have been some of the best that I have ever been around. Hearing 500 men singing ‘Victory in Jesus’ in unison leaves an indelible mark on your life. Finally, I must mention the campfires. These campfires are such a special time of bonding and sharing. There is something about standing around a campfire that brings out the best in men. I have had the opportunity to develop long distance relationships with guys that have carried on throughout the years and it has been a real encouragement to all of us. I almost forgot. What would a men’s retreat be if it didn’t involve sports and some of the best food on the planet. I can almost smell the chicken cooking now as I think about the great times in the past, and all that God is going to do through the Ox roast in the years to come.
